Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - Anson Youth Tackle Football and Cheer (AYTFC)
Welcome to the Anson Youth Tackle Football and Cheer (AYTFC) FAQ page! We're thrilled you're interested in joining our roaring family of Tigers. Founded in 2024 as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 99-3426595), AYTFC is dedicated to building champions on the field and in the community through safe, fun, and competitive tackle football and cheer programs for kids from Pre-K (Flag) through 6th grade. As a full member of the West Texas Rural Youth Football and Cheer League (WTRYFCL), we compete against great teams from Clyde, Jim Ned, Early, Merkel, Hawley, Winters, and Colorado City—all while operating separately from Anson ISD athletics.
Our inaugural 2024 season laid the foundation for growth, and our 2025 season saw 112 total athletes (66 football players and 46 cheerleaders) achieve big wins, like the Mighty Mite Division II Super Bowl championship and a Pee Wee performance at AT&T Stadium! Whether you're new to youth sports or a returning Tiger, we've got answers to your most common questions below. Can't find what you need? What if my child misses a practice or game?
Attendance Expectations and Playing Time
We recognize that unexpected circumstances may arise in family life. While consistent attendance is vital for skill development and building team spirit, AYTFC coaches strive to support families and work around occasional absences. Clear and timely communication is key—please notify your coordinator ahead of time if your child will miss a practice or game.
AYTFC is dedicated to fostering growth in every athlete, regardless of their experience or skill level. Our coaches and coordinators make every effort to ensure all players receive playing time during games. However, the amount of playing time is determined by each player's attitude, effort, and attendance at practices.
Practice attendance directly impacts game participation. Games are often won or lost based on preparation during practice sessions. If a player misses one practice in a week, they will not be in the starting lineup for the next game. Missing two practices results in the player being ineligible to play during the first half of the next game, though they may participate in the second half. If a player misses three or more practices in a week, they will not be permitted to play in that week's game. Players are still expected to attend the game and support their teammates from the sideline.
This policy helps emphasize the importance of commitment and teamwork while ensuring fair play and safety for all participants.
Safety and Rules:
How does AYTFC ensure player safety?
Safety is our top priority! All coaches are background-checked and certified in youth sports concussion recognition. We follow UIL Football Rules and WTRYFCL rules, including:
- Age-appropriate contact levels (no full tackle for flag)
- Certified equipment inspections
- Hydration breaks and heat protocols
- Concussion awareness training for parents/coaches
- We cap team sizes for better supervision.
- Emphasize proper tackling form and discourage dangerous or unnecessary contact drills at practices.
What are the behavior expectations?
We promote positive sportsmanship—no tolerance for bullying, unsportsmanlike conduct, or unsafe play. Our code of conduct applies to players, families, and coaches. Violations may lead to warnings or removal from the program.
Support and Involvement:
How can I donate or sponsor?
Every dollar counts—100% goes to the kids for gear, fields, and affordability! Donate tax-free via Zeffy: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/donate-to-make-a-difference-20461 (no fees / Tax Deductible). Businesses: Sponsor a team or event for visibility—contact us at (325) 267-2161.
